Heart Attack: Are You At Risk?
If you're male and you lead an inactive lifestyle you probably have at least 3 risk factors associated with heart disease. I know, I know, you feel fine but so do most people before they have a heart attack. Unfortunately, most people find out they have heart disease the day they are admitted in to hospital, and they are the lucky ones! Ladies, don't think this is just something for men to worry about (as it has been in the past). Women, as well as men, are more likely to die of heart disease than of any type of cancer. This is because of our modern lifestyle. We are working longer hours, so we eat fast food, and there's no time for exercise. To make matters worse, machines are...

High Blood Pressure and the Benefits of Exercise
High Blood Pressure - Exercise - Risk of Death Here's the simple truth - if you have high blood pressure then regular exercise will significantly prolong your life. Moderate exercise is a critically important part of maintaining good health. People who are physically active are less likely than their sedentary counterparts to develop chronic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure and other heart or cardiovascular disease. Hypertension – A Silent Killer
Hypertension in its simplest sense means ‘high blood pressure’. Medical science calls this condition, ‘arterial hypertension’, but hidden beneath the apparent simplicity of the term is the face of a silent killer. This silent killer can invariably trigger a heart attack, stroke, arterial aneurysm, eye damage, or a complete renal failure out of the blue, and no one will have any hint or clue that something was boiling inside for a worst outcome. Hence it is important that hypertension be diagnosed and treated at the earliest, before things get out of hand. The important question is how to find out if a person is suffering from arterial hypertension. The biggest...

Living With A Heart Problem

Author:
Drew Masters

Living a healthy life is something that everyone wants because a person does not need to worry about his or her condition much. However, this is only possible if one has been looking after him or her self. If not, one is liable to face severe consequences. This means that if one suffers a heart attack because of not being careful with the simplest of things, there is need for him or her to take even greater care.
Life after a heart attack is different; it cannot be the same because of the fact that one has lived through a life-taking condition. A person with a heart problem also has to take care of his or her diet, and if one does not manage to do so, it is obvious that their risks of having worse conditions are worsened. Often these types of people are restricted from most sports, and only brisk walking is allowed at the most.

Easy Eating Tips for a Healthy Heart and a Longer Life
Heart disease is one of the major causes of death in the developed world and a huge amount of research has been carried out into its causes. Good diet is considered to be one of the major factors in the prevention of heart attacks. Here we discuss what you should and should not be eating to minimize your risk of heart failure. Omega 3 Fatty Acids Not all fats are bad. We need fats like omega 3 to survive. Omega 3 is an essential fatty acid which is not present enough in the western diet. These are polyunsaturated fatty acids found predominantly in oily fish. It is also found in vegetarian sources such as walnuts, flaxseeds and in a variety of other seeds. Omega 3 is very effective in protecting the circulatory system and preventing heart diseases. Omega 3 fatty acids can help slow down the production of thromboxane A2 and inflammatory cytokines which means that there is a reduced tendency of the blood to clot. Blood clots blocking the heart valves can cause heart attacks. Research has proved that those who eat a lot of Omega 3-rich foods have a lower risk of heart attacks than those who consumed less in their diet. A love of oily fish and the Omega 3s within are considered a major reason why the inhabitants of Okinawa, Japan have the longest life expectancy of any population in the world. Antioxidants The body also needs antioxidants to prevent heart disease and improve circulation. Antioxidants stop free radicals from damaging cells. Free radicals are formed naturally during metabolism and other physiological processes. Antioxidants are very useful in fighting and preventing cancer, heart disease, and Alzheimer's. Some of the most common antioxidants are Lycopene, Vitamin C and Vitamin E. Lycopene, found in tomatoes and red fruits, is a bright red...
